Baby Oil Uses - Not Just for Baby Soft Skin

Baby oil is associated with babies, baths, and baby soft skin. And it's nice for all of that. But baby oil is very cheap and there are a myriad of baby oil uses that can be used around the house. Although I don't have children anymore, I still keep a bottle of baby oil handy. Here are a few reasons why:

Everyone knows about baby oil's use as a cheap, gentle makeup remover, don't they? If you didn't, you do now. Just put baby oil on a cotton ball or cotton square. Use it to remove about any makeup, even mascara. And you get soft skin out of the deal, too.

One of my favorite baby oil uses is as a moisturizer for my hands and feet at night. I wear cotton socks and gloves to bed after applying the baby oil. When I wake up, my hands and feet are so soft and smooth. I also massage baby oil into my cuticles at night. This is really effective at preventing hang nails.

Another excellent beauty use for baby oil is for shaving. Forget expensive shaving cream that always seems to run out when you need it most. Baby oil softens the hair, making it easy to shave. Just rub into your skin a couple of minutes before shaving. Plus, you get super soft legs as a result. Works on beards, too.

Use expensive hair serum to control frizzies? Baby oil to the rescue of your pocketbook! It works just as well as expensive hair products to smooth hair and control frizz. It only takes a very little amount, or your hair will look limp and oily! Just put a drop or two into your palms, rub together, and then run your hands through your hair where it needs it.

Another of my preferred baby oil uses is for polishing furniture and woodwork. I have lots of wood furniture, solid wood doors and woodwork throughout my house. Whenever they start to look dull, most of the time I use baby oil. I just pour a bit on a clean cloth and polish away. If it's gentle enough for baby skin, I figure it's fine for my wood furniture. And it works really well.

Baby oil is great at removing sticky things that don't want to be removed. I use baby oil to remove stickers instead of that expensive stuff you can buy in home improvement stores just for that purpose. It also removes gum.

If I notice a squeaky door or a drawer that keeps getting stuck and I don't have any regular oil lubricant around, out comes my handy bottle of cheap baby oil that I have poured into a spray bottle. (I use an old window cleaner bottle that I recycled, no less.)

Another of my unusual but effective baby oil uses is for untangling necklaces. I just put a couple of drops of baby oil on the knot, and it helps loosen it for easier detangling. It also works if you have a ring stuck on your finger. Just add a dab of baby oil to your finger above the ring. Massage it down under the ring. It will loosen the ring right off your finger!

Bet You Didn't Know Baby Oil Was so Useful

Oh yeah, one thing baby oil is NOT recommended for is as a personal lubricant. It will destroy a condom, diaphragm, or other type of barrier type birth control, rendering them useless. Plus, using baby oil can cause yeast infections. So, don't mention that use! I don't want any unwanted pregnancies or yeast infections on my watch. ;-)
