How to Make Skin Masks at Home
Why Make Homemade Skin Masks?
I'm a firm believer in natural ingredients for beauty items like facial masks, scrubs, shampoo, soap, and the like. I have been using them more and more over the years. I can really tell a difference in my skin and hair when I use natural products versus commercial bath and body products.
There are a few problems with natural beauty products, however. First, they are much more expensive than commercial ones. Now I'm not knocking the companies that make the natural products. I know that natural ingredients are more expensive than synthetic ones from the lab. I just mean that the price really starts adding up. It adds up really quickly when you have a family of five, and two of them are teenaged girls
The other problem is availability. It is difficult to find these products sometimes. Good luck with finding natural beauty products at all if you live in a small town or secluded area. I get most of mine by ordering from the internet. But if I forget to order them and run out, grrrr...
I was ordering natural beauty treatments for my two teenagers to keep their skin smooth. But the expense was outrageous and if they ran out before I ordered more, it was a nightmare in our home.
So we started experimenting by making some homemade skin mask recipes. To my surprise, homemade skin masks are fun to make, effective, and not that expensive. Some of them are really cheap. Here are my favorite beauty recipes for homemade skin masks and diy facials.

Homemade Skin Mask- Excellent for Teenagers or Blemished Skin
- Tablespoon sugar
- Tablespoon aloe vera
- Aspirin, dissolved in 1/2 teaspoon hot water
Just mix this all up and apply to your face. Let it sit for 20 minutes to half an hour. Then wash off with cool water.
This next natural facial mask recipe is really cheap, ridiculously easy, and really effective. It works for about any skin type. It is effective on acne, smooths dry skin, and tightens skin.
Use this skin mask about twice a week for the best results
This skin mask recipe is an excellent choice for sensitive skin. My skin is sensitive and I can't use most commercial skin masks. But this at home facial never bothers me. It can be a bit messy, though.
Here is how to make it:
- Take 2 eggs and separate the whites. Throw away the yolks or save them for another use.
- Add 2 drops of lemon juice or tea tree oil to the egg whites if you have blemished or oily skin.
- Whip the egg whites with a fork or whisk until frothy.
- Apply the egg whites to a clean face with all makeup and lotions removed.
- Leave on until the egg white is completely dry, which takes anywhere from 5-15 minutes.
- Rinse with warm water, then wash with soap.
