Unfamiliar with Outback Steakhouse? Well, here's some background information for you.

The very first Outback Steakhouse opened in 1988. There are almost 1000 Outback Steakhouse restaurants operating on every continent except Africa and Antarctica.

Outback Steakhouse is a casual family restaurant. Its main attractions are its steaks. Outback Steakhouse also features seafood and other American dishes.

Decorated with an Australian Outback theme, Outback Steakhouse is a great place for the whole family to eat. Restaurants display Aboriginal art, boomerangs, Australian maps, and other Aussie themed decor. The menu continues the Outback theme with items like Kookaburra Wings, Walkabout Soup, and Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie, among many others.

Outback Steak Marinade Recipe

This tastes just like the Outback Steakhouse Steak Marinade. Delicious!

Outback Steakhouse Steak Marinade Recipe- Makes enough for 1-2 pounds of steak

c. beer or ale
2 t. brown sugar
1/2 t. seasoned salt
1/4 t. each- black pepper and MSG

Let the steak marinate in the beer for at least an hour in the refrigerator.

Mix the dry ingredients together well.

After marinating, sprinkle the dry mix over the steak. Rub it all over the steak. Let the steak sit in the refrigerator another thirty minutes.

Put a pat of butter on the grill. When it's very hot, add the steak. Cook to desired doneness.

Grilling tip: When grilling steaks, they will be much better if you let them come to room temperature first before grilling.

As an Aussie who went to an Outback Steakhouse when I was holidaying in Florida last year, I HAVE to tell ya that it would be laughed out of business in Australia.

It's SOOOO corny, cliched and hokey that it's laughable...

HOWEVER, I was willing to ignore that if the food was good, but it was average at best. Hooters was MUCH better (their wings rock!) :-)

We actually used to have a restaurant chain in Oz back in the 90s called the Lone Star Steak houses, which (I now realise) was Outback steakhouse done in a Texas theme.

Their food was great, compared to what we had in the Outback. Quite similar items on the menu, but with different names, but the folks in florida must have been having an off day when we went for dinner.

If you REALLY want to enjoy Aussie food, come to Australia & you'll be (probably) majorly surprised to find that we're a big mixing pot of cultures, so there's not too many food items that you could say are uniquely Australian these days.

Anyway, great Hub & thanks for the recipes, they do look good.

James :-)

I loved the green beans served with the prime rib last time I was there. Does anyone have any ideas what they did to them? This site doesn't seem to have that recipe (maybe everyone thinks it's too simple or obvious)

We don't use shrimp we use prawns in Australia despite the Paul Hogan ad.

The bloomin onion recipe isn't anywhere correct. And the sauce portion recipe makes enough to feed a small country. After getting ti all ready, and cooking it, I was EXTREMEMLY dissappointed!

Love Outback, and love the recipes. The steaks are great, but the Alice's Spring Chicken is one my wife enjoys. If I can make it at home...voila! :) Thanks.

Holy! My god this is awesome I think that I will enjoy this

Iain 23 months ago

I think the porktenderloin has a gastrique on it. 1 part vinegar (use a nice one) 2 parts sugar and 2 parts fruit juice or puree. Reduce to a syrup/glaze. The trick would be the right fruit and/or vinegar.

Outback is one of our favorite restaurants and I am anxious to try these recipes out. When you have two kids with one of them being in college, its hard to find the extra time and money to make to Outback as often as we'd like so this is great! Thanks for the info.

Where is the creamy onion soup recipe?

xavier82 9 months ago

I just wanted to say that I used to work for outback and they do not marinate their steaks. It is a dry rub of herbs and peppers (17 spices of which 14 of them are different kinds of peppers). I'm sure the marinade on here is delicious, I just wanted to point out that the steaks are not marinated.
