Tuna Salad Recipes

By

I have loved tuna salad sandwiches ever since I was little. I was a very picky eater. One of the few times I was happy when meal time arrived was when Mom made tuna salad.

Tuna fish salad has remained a staple in my easy recipes file. Canned tuna salad recipes are not only easy recipes to make, but also quick and cheap recipes, too. Teamed with a soup and salad, it also makes a very satisfying meal.

The following are a couple of tuna recipes that I use over and over, including my Mom's tuna fish salad (with just a few tweaks- Sorry, Mom). If you want to know how to make tuna salad that tastes good and is very easy to make, you will love this tuna salad how to.

How to Make Tuna Salad Sandwiches

Tuna Salad Ingredients- Serves 6

2 cans of tuna in water, drained well

1/3 medium onion, chopped fine

About 1/2 cup salad dressing, such as Miracle Whip brand (Adjust to your preference)

1/4 cup sweet relish- again, your preference

1-2 hard boiled eggs, chopped fine (optional)

2 tablespoons celery, chopped (optional)

Simply mix all of the tuna salad ingredients together well. Best served cold. Serve on toasted bread for a much better tuna salad sandwich. The eggs are not necessary, but they do add to the flavor and also help make the recipe 'stretch' a little more, if needed. The celery adds a nice crunch to your tuna salad, but also isn't necessary. When I make this easy tuna salad recipe, I just check in the refrigerator for the listed ingredients and make it with whatever I already have on hand.

One of the Most Unique Tuna Salad Recipes I Have

I have to admit that I haven't personally tried the following unique tuna salad recipe yet. It was given to me by a friend because she knows that I enjoy trying unusual recipes and that my daughter loves tahini. It is a Middle Eastern tuna recipe.

It sounds really good and uses canned tuna, so it is not very expensive to make. If you like tahini, give this unique tuna salad sandwich a try. (And let me know what you think.)

Tuna Salad Dressing Ingredients

1/3 cup plain yogurt

2 tablespoons tahini

2 tablespoons lemon juice

3 cloves of chopped garlic

1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley

2 teaspoons cumin

1/2 teaspoon each- chili powder and cayenne pepper (Adjust to taste)

Tuna Salad Ingredients

2 cans tuna in water, drained well

1/3 cup each- chopped onion and celery

2 tablespoons capers

1 tomato, chopped (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Process the tuna salad dressing in a blender. Add the dressing to the rest of the tuna salad recipe ingredients in a bowl. Mix together well. Serve on toasted bread, in a wrap, or pita pocket or on a bed of lettuce as a main salad.

I'm a tuna salad fan too--guess it feeds my inner child :-) I always make it with Miracle Whip too but I never thought of putting in sweet relish. Thanks for the tip. Thumbs up and yum yum

I love tuna also, and my favorite is a tuna melt, with either American cheese or provolone. I prefer it on rye toast minus the tomato. Something about hot tomatoes just doesn't appeal to me. My 'dressing' of choice is always Hellman's mayonaisse.

Good ideas here, thanks for sharing,

Trish
